Information and news have always
been important in our life. Before the scientific revolution we could learn
what was going on around us only from other people with great lateness and
nobody could guarantee that even some part of the data was not changed. When
the radio, television, Internet were invented we got an amazing chance of
remaining aware of the last events in the whole world. Today there are so many
newspapers, news websites, TV and radio programs that you often just cannot
choose between them. In my point of view a really good source of information,
whether it is website, TV or radio news report, should have some traits to
attract readership.
The first and the
most significant one, of course, the truth of the provided data. This feature
is very relevant since in the modern times lots of events take place and the
news about them are often misrepresented in order to increase the popularity
and attract new audience, to make propaganda among the public against political
and economical enemies. For example, such occasions are frequently noticed
today in tabloids and gutter press telling about the life of celebrities.
They might say that a famous person like soccer player Xavi Hernandez is dating
with someone, is in quarrel with close people, is leaving the sports forever
and so on. Such a defamation really hurts celebrities and their fans' feelings.
The presence of reliable data is the thing that attracts us in news programs.
The second trait
necessary for all sources of information is the speed of working. I mean that
it is really good when true reports come on time without being late. If they
arrive quickly we can learn and prepare for possible future consequences. For
instance if there is an explosion in the near plant station we could know about
it thanks to fast journalists and take some precautions, if there is our favorite
band's concert coming soon in our town we could start looking for tickets
immediately because many men will desire to attend it too. So the speed is
important for keeping in touch with the world.
The third one is
the range and designation of the news. I suppose only the sources which at the
same time cover various lands and domains such as sports and economics can
become popular and trusted. New York Times, The Sun and BBC may relate to
those. But news still must not be deliberately altered. This trait is also
relevant due to the fact that many humans are interested not only in one area
but in several ones simultaneously. In this case it is just comfortable
for readers to use the newspaper which informs about events in world stock
exchanges and in golf tournaments but yet gives own opinion about the current
situation. This is called "author's opinion". The wideness of data helps
us opt for a particular channel or newspaper to use.
In conclusion a huge number of
compulsory for newspapers, news websites and news programs on TV and radio
traits exist. But the most significant ones are the truthfulness, quick
working, wide coverage and designation. If all of them are considered so that
news source would be the best for me.
